Balanceworks — Workshop Terms MY / EN

These terms set out the conditions under which Balanceworks accepts watches for service and communicates with customers through this website. By submitting an enquiry or leaving a watch at the workshop counter, you are indicating that you have read and understood these terms.

1. About the Workshop

Balanceworks is a watch repair workshop operating from Unit 9-3, Plaza Damas, Jalan Sri Hartamas 1, 50480 Kuala Lumpur. Services are carried out by workshop staff at the above address. Watches are accepted for service in person, during published business hours.

2. Intake and Assessment

When a watch is brought to the workshop, a ledger entry is made recording the condition of the watch at intake — case, dial, hands, crown, and any visible condition notes. This entry is signed by both the customer and the workshop at the time of intake.

An initial assessment is carried out before any work begins. Where the scope of work is not known at intake, the workshop will communicate its findings to the customer before proceeding. No work is carried out beyond the agreed scope without customer authorisation.

3. Quotations and Prices

Prices listed on this website are the standard rates for each named service. They apply to watches that fall within the ordinary scope of that service. Where additional work is required — for example, because a part is damaged beyond what the standard service covers — the workshop will advise the customer and obtain agreement before proceeding.

All prices are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit and are inclusive of service work and documentation. Replacement parts are charged separately, at cost, with the customer's prior agreement.

Quoted prices remain valid for 30 days from the date of the quotation.

4. Turnaround

Estimated turnaround periods are communicated at intake and are indicative rather than contractual. They may be affected by the condition of the movement, parts availability, or workshop scheduling. The workshop will notify the customer if a significant change to the estimated period is expected.

5. Collection and Uncollected Watches

The customer will be notified by telephone or email when the watch is ready for collection. Watches should be collected within 30 days of notification. After 60 days, the workshop reserves the right to apply a storage charge. After 180 days, the workshop may treat the watch as abandoned.

The watch will be released only to the named owner or to a person presenting written authorisation from the named owner.

6. Liability

The workshop takes reasonable care of each watch while it is on the premises. In the event of loss or damage attributable to the workshop, liability is limited to the cost of repair or, where repair is not possible, to the assessed market value of the watch at the time of intake.

The workshop is not liable for pre-existing conditions that were not visible or disclosed at intake, or for the failure of original components that were in poor condition at intake and noted as such in the ledger record.

Customers are advised to disclose the full provenance and any known condition history of the watch at intake. This information assists in making appropriate service recommendations.

7. Conservation Work

For watches submitted under the Conservation Service for Heirloom Watches, the workshop will document original condition at intake and will not carry out work that affects originality without the customer's written consent. Where a decision has implications for collectability or value, the workshop will advise the customer before proceeding.

All removed original components are returned to the customer unless they request otherwise in writing.

8. Website Use

This website is provided for information and enquiry purposes. The information published here describes the workshop's services as accurately as possible, but does not constitute a binding offer. A service engagement is formed only when the workshop and customer agree the scope and price at intake, and the watch is left at the counter.

The workshop makes no representation about the accuracy or completeness of information on this website and may update it without notice.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from a service engagement that cannot be resolved directly with the workshop may be referred to the Consumer Tribunal or to the courts of Malaysia.
